While we are not a gluten free facility, thus cannot sell “gluten free” products (with one exception of a sealed, lab tested gluten free biscotti), we like to try and offer tasty treats to our customers that are reducing or cutting gluten from their diets. To this end, we have added some really great freshly baked corn chips with salsa to our menu for the month of April.

We bake your chips to order (so it takes a few minutes, but it’s worth it). They are lightly coated with olive oil and a dusting of pink Himalayan salt and baked in our oven. The result is a wonderfully crispy chip, with a hint of bright and flavourful salt. We serve it all up in a bowl with a side of slightly spicy organic pineapple salsa.

Just what you might need to either remind you of your winter in Mexico or get you in the mood for your next trip down south.

Knitting Madness – April 18

Well, we’re at it again. Thursday, April 18, 2013 will be Knit Night at the cafe. Bring your yarn, needles, projects, questions, etc., and have some fun. Coffee will be on and the pastry case will be open for business. This is a drop in event, no membership or dues are needed. It’s just a bunch of knitters having fun.

Get Your Knit On – May 17

Are you a knitter, ever wanted to learn to knit, just curious what people do at these things? We’d love to have you drop in on the evening of Thursday, May 17, 2012 between 7 and 9pm to hang with some pretty fun people. ALL SKILL LEVELS are welcome. Even if you just want to learn, you just need to bring needles, wool and your enthusiasm. We’ll take care of the rest.

This is a really fun time and there is no pressure at all. Mostly we just like to chat about knitting, show off our yarn stashes and oogle other people’s projects

Join us on Thursday and have a blast…and some coffee and dessert.

Tech Talk for March 29, 2012 (7-9pm)

Here at Fernwood Road Cafe, we have partnered with a local web programmer (and all round techie guy) to offer a casual evening of “tech talk”. If you have questions about anything technology related, this is where you want to be.

Shaun Luttin will try to help you work through your challenge and, together, you’ll get closer to bridging the technology gap. Questions on pretty much anything are fair game. Can’t figure out your new e-reader, need help customizing your blog, can’t figure out how to sign up for a new gmail account…bring your questions, bring your computer/device and learn the fix.

This is a free service, though we will have coffee and tea and goodies to fuel your problem solving brain cells.
